I was noon mass today with my boys. Communion, which lasted more than a few minutes as there were a good number of people, was just ending. There was no line left and I was just reveling in sitting there watching Father distribute communion for those last few seconds when something flashed to my right- it was a very petite woman who was very unceremoniously hauling (I mean running) down the aisle to reach the communion rail before Father finished giving communion.
I don't know where she had been. My first thought is she just arrived late, but she definitely climbed back in the pew to a specific spot when she was done- she could have been in confession (I think there was a priest in back hearing confession), or maybe just had to go to the restroom. I'll never know.
I do know what a picture it made. My heart kind of leapt for a second- I thought, "she is running to Jesus". Literally throwing herself at him with no care as to how ridiculous she might look getting there. What an awe-inspiring picture! It made me think that each time communion is about to begin, I should be leaping out of my seat to go receive Jesus!!

Love this story! Thanks for sharing this witness and great example for us all:-) Have a blessed weekend!
this is a lovely reflection. i can envision her running down the aisle, kind of dissheveled, not worrying about how it all looks to others, just focusing on Christ! God bless you day! --Gardenia
What a wonderful picture! What a wonderful example. Running to Jesus. Something we all should be doing . . .
